[edit] Template:User toomanyedits user page
Procedural request. Was first listed on TfD by User: Wizardman with the following rationale:
My reasons for nominating the template are as follows:
1. WP:NOT#MYSPACE. Just becasue myspace users spend a lot of time working on their user page doesn't mean we should. A nice userpage is one thing, spending all your time on it and ignoring the encyclopedia is another.
2. This contributes nothing to the encyclopedia, and honestly, it probably says something about the people that have that template on their user page, and it's not necessarily something good.
3. I don't see a reason to keep the template. It just seems useless to me.
I am relisting here as all userboxes should go through MfD. >< RichardΩ612 15:55, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep Useless? Yes. Harmless? Also yes. Actually, I find that ubox rather humorous and self-deprecating. Doesn't attack others (unless I were to put it on someone else's page, I suppose), doesn't attack Wikipedia. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 16:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep. Quite harmless, and I'm at a loss to understand the nominator's rationale. Where exactly is the implication of social networking in the use of this template? People might spend time on their userpage for any number of reasons, and not to the detriment of the encyclopedia. How users choose to spend their time is really up to them. - keep harmless userbox, does not really compel people to spend too much time on user pages so WP:MYSPACE would not apply, and also complies with WP:USERBOX --Enric Naval (talk) 17:47, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep. Isn't it the point of userboxes to say something about the person who uses them? Whether what it says is good or bad, by your own opinion, is your own business. *Dan T.* (talk) 18:20, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete, I still say it's not harmless based on my nom above. Wizardman 18:48, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm missing it. What's "harmful" about it? Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 21:29, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete: Useless. If too many userspace edits are a problem, you don't go ahead and make userspace edits to publicize it. Danny (talk) 19:01, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - What's wrong with a little self-deprecating chuckle? I don't see any problem with this. BRMo (talk) 22:50, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Move to userspace Antonio Lopez (talk) 00:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

- Keep/userfy - Definitely harmless, just a fun bit of self-mockery. Doesn't necessarily mean the anyone spends a lot of time on their userspace intentionally; just means they recognize that they have a "problem", har har. But definitely doesn't belong in template space, of course. Equazcion •✗/C • 03:50, 10 Apr 2008 (UTC)
- Userfy per WP:UBM. Nothing to see here, move along. CharonX/talk 18:59, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Delete per my comments at the TfD. Daniel (talk) 01:30, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep and userfy. The nominator's concerns are unfounded. 1: If the user is going to spend a lot of time editing their userpage to the detriment of the encyclopaedia, they are going to do so regardless of whether there is a userbox to say they do or not. 2: Userboxes are an acceptable form of expression, and there are numerous precedents. I agree that it does not directly contribute to the project, so I would agree with moving it out of the template namespace, but there is no reason to delete altogether. If you want to move it to my userspace, that is fine by me. 3. It is a decorative template for user expression. I can't see any reason to delete it. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 08:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
