[edit] Where do you live?

I heard your Sami. Do you mind stating where you live? I am curious. Ffda (talk) 22:52, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Semi Langauges

Hi Misha, I am doing a report on the linguisticethnicities of Europe, including the non-Indo-European ones such as the Uralic Family of langauges. Where did you obtain the source for your map of Sami languages in Scandanavia? - Indo Historian —Preceding comment was added at 19:57, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, actually it was already on wikipedia commons. I just altered it a bit: I made the municipality borders more accurate, added some new municipalities in Norway where Sámi has gotten official status, and removed one municipality that was erroneously featured a having Sámi as an official language. I do not know who entered the original map, but it is a fairly common picture of the "borders" between the Sámi languages. Any book or website dealing with Sámi languages will probably have a similar map showing the Sámi language regions. I've never seen any map highlighting the municipalities anywhere else than on Wiki, though.--Misha bb (talk) 09:16, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Big_Collage_Sami.JPG listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Big_Collage_Sami.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Mangostar (talk) 21:34, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I'll delete the pic and come back with a collage that consists of pics that are UNDISPUTABLY free. If this means that two such central cultural figures as those depicted in #4 and #5 are not taken into the collage because of this, though... Well, I think it's quite a shame. But I don't want to spend time discussing this for eternity, so... --Misha bb (talk) 21:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Maplarge UArctic.jpg

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Maplarge UArctic.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

Wikipedia does not accept permissions to host copyrighted images as these permissions don't extend to third parties. In order to use this image on Wikipedia, the copyright holder must agree to release it under a free content license (e.g. {{cc-by-sa-3.0}}). If the copyright holder agrees to release this image under a free license, simply forward the permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and an OTRS volunteer will verify the release. There's a great guide to requesting such permission over at User:Videmus Omnia/Requesting free content. If the copyright holder does not agree to release this image under a free license, its use must accommodate Wikipedia's fair use guidelines. Sadly, it does not, as the map is considered replaceable. Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, ˉˉanetode╦╩ 23:28, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
