Hi.

My main interest is making information more accessible and useful. My impression of utility is naturally based on my experience: Wikipedia has been a pretty good source of information, but my reading has been hampered by the long, meaningless passages that saturate the encyclopedia. Most of my edits are aimed at keeping things succinct-- every word should tell. This is the problem with a million editors on a million keyboards: everyone wants to add something, even when it's already there or it's comparatively irrelevant, and often without thinking about the bigger structural picture. Also, many articles, particularly those that are not usually edited by technically-minded people, end up filled with words that give a formal air without contributing any meaning. It should be the other way around: words should contribute the maximum significance with the minimum ostentation. Writers who use words as ornaments come across as pretentious at best, and ignoramuses at worst. Concise, pithy writing is always best.
