I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, having just joined on somewhere around Feb 9th, 2007.

Professionally I'm diverse, almost to the point of distraction. I spent some time in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear electrician. I'm a computer programmer, and an automation geek. I've done some factory automation - including vision, servos, PC based control, etc. and commercial building automation, which is what I do now. HVAC, lighting controls, that sort of thing. I tend to focus in on the geekier bits, like LON/BACnet or other integration work, and customer IT network and security considerations. My degree is in Applied Nuclear Engineering Technology, which has exactly nothing to do with my present career path.

Because I'm concerned about global warming, and because electricity usage in the commercial building sector is such a large fraction of U.S. energy usage, I'd like to focus my personal path upon improving building efficiency. My present job already positions me well to do this, and I am looking into becoming a Certified Energy Manager. That means I get to make money, save companies money, and save the environment all in one stroke. Yay for you, me, and us.

I'm a supporter of nuclear power as a clean-er energy source. I'm not very concerned about radiation, and I don't believe you should be either. It won't give you 3 eyes, and the risks of cancer are small when compared to the health risks of say, coal. Unfortunately, radiation will also not give you super-powers, but I guess we have to take the good with the bad.

Other interests are gaming, SCUBA, skydiving, peaceful visits with nature, and trying to teach myself to draw better than I did at age 6. I speak a smattering of German, and even less Spanish. I'd like to improve my German, which is probably backwards since I live in Florida.

I believe passionately in the value and power of honesty.
