Mission Viejo Nadadores

The Mission Viejo Nadadores [1] [2] Mission Viejo, CA[3] is one of the largest swimming and diving clubs in the United States of America. The Nadadores were started in 1968 and have placed athletes on every Olympic Team since 1976. The Mission Viejo Nadadores have garnered world wide attention due to the achievement of its swimmers and divers. The Mission Viejo Nadadores hold the record for national team titles at 47

At the 1984 Summer Olympics, Nadadore athletes won 13 medals (10 Gold)[4]. Notable alumni include: Brian Goodell, Shirley Babashoff, Mary T. Meagher, Robin Leamy, Greg Louganis, Amy Shaw, Ricardo Prado, Jesse Vasallo, Tiffany Cohen, Dara Torres, Coach Mike O'Brien, Coach Mark Schubert[5], Coach Terry Stoddard, Coach Dr. Sammy Lee, and Coach Jim Montrella[6].

Currently the Nadadores are led by American Swimming Coaches Association[7] Hall of Fame member, Coach Bill Rose[8]. At the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, Nadadore Larsen Jensen (American Record Holder) captured a Silver Medal in the Men's 1500 freestyle.

In 2007 the oldest swimming world record was broken by Kate Ziegler in the 1500m freestyle at the Mission Viejo Nadadores, TYR (TYR Sports, Inc.) Swim Meet of Champions. The Nadadores are headquartered at the Marguerite Aquatic Center.
