[edit] California wildfires of October 2007
During the California wildfires of October 2007, Mission Hills High School opened it's campus on October 20 for evacuated refugees. The evacuation site has offered a place to sleep, food, and activities such as soccer, skatebording, football, and basketball. Mission Hills has also allowed pet owners to keep small animals.
Due to the wildfires, all schools in San Diego County were closed for the remainder of the week - including Mission Hills High School.
