Mission America, based in Columbus, Ohio, USA, is a Christian public policy and commentary organization founded by Linda Harvey. The organization's major area of focus is homosexuality from a conservative Christian viewpoint, particularly as it relates to American youth. The group is Christian in its worldview, and discusses paganism and feminist spirituality in relation to traditional Christianity. The group also provides a range of apologetics for Christianity.
"Truth at School" is an associated web site aimed towards parents and students. The group's printed newsletter, Choice 4 Truth, is geared toward parents as well as young people.
Linda Harvey has close ties to numerous national Christian, pro-family groups, including Concerned Women for America, and is a regular contributor to its web site. She also writes commentary for WorldNetDaily. Her organization is an active participant in the "Day of Truth" effort, an Alliance Defense Fund initiative intended to counter the "Day of Silence".
The group's "School Risk Audit" program was launched in April 2006. This effort to audit schools for any signs of promotion of homosexuality is to be conducted jointly by Mission America, the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America, the Family Research Council, and other, smaller groups.[1] Key warning flags in these audits include anti-bullying programs that include homosexual acceptance by students, and non-discrimination policies that include sexual orientation. The plan has received strong support from Exodus Mandate, a group supporting home-schooling, whose platform is that the public school system is too secular to salvage, and which encourages its membership to pull their students from all public schools.
In January 2008, Linda Harvey authored "Not My Child; Contemporary Paganism & New Spirituality," published by AMG Publishers/Living Ink Books, ISBN 9780899570341. The book discusses the author's view that "casual occultism permeates youth culture" and suggests tips for parents as well as classroom lessons.
