The 54th Miss World pageant was held at the Crown of Beauty Theater in Sanya, Hainan, China on 6th December 2004. The 2004 pageant marks the second straight year that Sanya played host of the pageant. 107 delegates competed for the crown marking the biggest turnout in the pageants 54 year history. It is also regarded as having the largest global vote made since the pageant entire results were decided by votes cast by viewers via the internet and SMS. Five contestants were Fast Tracked to the semi-finals with the remaining ten determined by the global vote.
