Miss Universe Canada is an annual pageant held in Canada to decide the Canadian delegate to the Miss Universe pageant. The pageant is not related to the previous Miss Canada. The Miss Universe Canada contest was first held in 2003, with the first winner being Leanne Marie Cecile. Cecile made the top 10 in Miss Universe 2003. Venessa Fisher succeeded Cecile as Miss Universe Canada 2004 but failed to make the semi-finals at Miss Universe 2004.
Natalie Glebova was the winner in 2005, and went on to the win title Miss Universe 2005. Glebova's successor, Alice Panikian was viewed as a strong contender to win the Miss Universe 2006 crown but placed 6th overall. The next year, Panikian crowned Inga Skaya as Miss Universe Canada 2007. Like Fisher, Skaya also failed to place in the semi-finals at Miss Universe 2007, which was won by Riyo Mori of Japan.
Three of the five Miss Universe Canada winners have placed in the finals of Miss Universe. Cecile finished in the top 10 in 2003, Glebova won in 2005, and Alice Panikian finished in 6th place in 2006.

[edit] Beauties of Canada
Created in 2002, the “Beauties of Canada” Organization has the exclusive rights to send a Canadian representative to the Miss Universe® Pageant. The company president, Mr. Denis Davila, a Nicaraguan-born Canadian, has worked in the beauty pageant field for nearly a decade, and has successfully produced events in both Canada and Nicaragua.

The contestants who become part of the Miss Universe® Canada Pageant display these characteristics in their everyday lives, both as individuals who participate in the competitions to advance their careers, personal and humanitarian goals, and as women who seek to improve the lives of others.
