[edit] Character
Searching the internet for his ideal woman, Lou Carpenter (Tom Oliver) came across a site advertising Russian brides. Through this site he met Mishka, and he led her to believe that he was young and rich, while she also deceived him about her age. One night, Mishka appeared on Lou's doorstep and the two were shocked to learn the truth about each other, with Lou mistaking Mishka for her mother. Mishka moved in with Lou and Harold (Ian Smith) and she and Lou became extremely close. It was soon revealed that Mishka had entered the country using false documents, and although her name was indeed Mishka, it wasn't Schneiderova. Mishka also developed a motherly bond with Harold's granddaughter, Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh). In July, Mishka's dream came true when she met her idol, cricketer Shane Warne.
Mishka soon became extremely popular, both with other characters and with viewers. She and Lou were devastated when it was revealed that she was married to a man in Russia named Igor, and that she was also an illegal immigrant. Two Russian government agents arrived to take her to the Russian embassy, but told her that she would merely have to sign papers and could return to Lou straight away. When Lou didn't see or hear from Mishka, he realized that Mishka had been kidnapped.
Lou then travelled to Russia to find Mishka, who had been kidnapped by Igor. He returned two weeks later with no memory of anything that happened to him while he was away. In a hypnotherapy session with Dr. Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), Lou remembered what happened - Mishka had rejected him for Igor and pushed him down a flight of stairs. Mishka recently returned and found Lou had moved on with Janelle Timmins (Nell Feeney). It turned out that Igor was waiting inside Mishka's room, waiting to kill Lou; Mishka saw that the only way to stop this from happening was to get Lou away from them. That's why she pushed him down the stairs. Mishka and Lou were shortly re-united, when Mishka became a flight attendant and went on flights to Australia. They attempted to get her a permanent Visa when the flights would no longer go from Moscow to Australia, but Mishka was deported when she mistakenly tried to pay off the officer interviewing her.
