Misery Weekly
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Misery Weekly is a weekly humor publication based in Columbia, Missouri. It was started by two journalism students, Hayley Salvo and Leslie Timmons, in 2005.
The paper specializes in fake news stories fashioned in a similar vein to The Onion with a local/state focus. Several examples of articles include Matt Blunt being deposed as hillbilly king by West Virginia forward Kevin Pittsnogle and Air Bud joining the University of Missouri-Columbia basketball team.
The paper printed its last issue on December 6, 2006 due to a lack of advertising. Archives of all the issues are located in the Ellis Library Archives on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus.
