Mise (band)

Míse are a London based traditional Irish music band, comprising six talented young musicians, and featuring a wide range of instruments. In 2002, they were finalists for the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award. The group were formed in County Kerry, Eire.

Liam O'sullivan - Accordion

Liam, an all Britain champion, started playing at the age of ten and has developed a lively style which gives great lift to the music of the group. He is also, along with Matt, one of the two composers in the band; his unique writing style is complemented by the fluent arrangements in which his tunes are included.

Matt Griffin - Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar, Whistles

A gifted musician, Matt Griffin is currently reading the traditional music performance degree at the University of Limerick. Before beginning the course, he studied for two years at the world renowned Purcell School. Griffin is also a gifted composer, writing much of the band's repertoire.

Tim Dowd - Uilleann Pipes, Flute, Whistles

A two time All Ireland Champion[citation needed], Tim Dowd began playing the whistle at the age of six, moving on to the Uilleann Pipes at nine. He is also proficient on the Flute and Low Whistles, adding more variety to the group.

Daniel Griffin - Bodhrán

Daniel Griffin plays in a light and innovative style, bringing drive and attack, as well as a subtle percussive effect. Giving the band its extra dynamic variety, his playing defines the unique style of Míse.

Liam Stapleton - Flute, Whistles

From a family renowned for producing superb musicians, Liam Stapleton provides a fresh and flowing addition to Míse's sound. With a natural talent for improvisation, he inspires new life into every live performance. Stapleton has toured much of Europe and has experience with many different types of artist, and joined the group in 2004.

Anthony Davis - Keyboards

Anthony Davis, from Birmingham is well known as a feis musician throughout the world. His Solo recording "Perfect Timing" received critical acclaim and has sold very well throughout the Irish Dance community. Davis joined Míse in mid-2005 as an experiment to see how keyboards would affect the band sound, and had been a permanent fixture ever since.
