MISC Berhad (MYX: 3816) incorporated in 1968 as Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad, is the leading international shipping line of Malaysia. Its main shareholder is Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the national oil conglomerate of Malaysia. The principal business of the Corporation consist of ship-owning, ship-operating and other logistics and maritime transportation services. With a modern and well-diversified fleet of 139 vessels and a combined tonnage of 8,000,000 metric tons of deadweight (DWT).
MISC is a specialist in the carriage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). With 18 LNG carriers, it is currently the world’s largest single owner/operator of LNG fleet. MISC’s 43 crude oil and 5 product petroleum tankers of between 6,000 DWT – 299,999 DWT each carry crude oil, unleaded gasoline, gas oils and jet fuel.
In July 2003, MISC spread its wing in the petroleum tanker business through the acquisition of American Eagle Tankers (AET). The acquisition is a major boost for MISC in its drive to become the leading global energy transport provider. AET provides a strong growth platform for MISC in the Atlantic Basin complementing its existing Persian Gulf – Far East operations. With AET, MISC is now the second largest owner-operator of Aframax tanker fleet in the world.
In 2005, MISC adopted its present corporate identity and changed its name from Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad to MISC Berhad.
