Talk:Mirabai/Archive 1
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mirabai was so sensible that the mention of refusing worship of family deity is hard to belive. In fact the poetic princess had objection to nothing for she was always lost in devotion to his Lord. Further the words 'sensual' and 'erotic' deserve to be replaced by those which may almost convey the same meaning but with lesser potency suitable to the FOND IMAGE of revered faminine saint .—SUBZBHARTI

many prayerful songs...
The expression "prayerful bhajan" sounds a bit odd since the hindi word Bhajan literally translates to "a song of prayer to god". Should the expression not be replaced with something like: "many prayerful songs" or "many bhajans (hymns)". Any thoughts ? Syiem 08:00, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
merge
We've got two Mirabai articles! I suggest that they be merged to Mirabai, rather than to Meera.
Google has 603 hits for the exact phrase "meera bai", and 139,000 hits for the term "Mirabai". Plus, my readings indicate that Mirabai is the more typical spelling in English academic books. --goethean ॐ 19:56, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
- I support the merger. The link on the merge notice leads to the talk page on Mirabai, so I suggest that the discussion be continued there. In case there are no objections, I will complete the merger on 1st November with this page converted into a re-direct. --Gurubrahma 07:52, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Yes, it's okay to merge for sure. Thanks Gurubrahma.
Age?
1450-1547 seems to be a bit on the higher side. The other article that is to be merged into this gives 1498 as the year of birth. This seems more feasible and hence I am being bold by making the required changes. --Gurubrahma 09:58, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
