Shams-ul-Ulama Mirza Kalich Baig (1853 - 1929) was a Sindhi scholar, highly appreciated prose writer, and a well-known poet. He knew Sindhi, Persian, Arabic, Urdu, English and Turkish languages very well.

[edit] Early life
Shams-ul-Ulama Mirza Kalich Baig was born on October 7, 1853. His father, Mirza Fareedon Baigwas from Georgia. He had seven brothers and two sister.Kalich was the third son.
He studied at the Aakhwand Shafi Muhammad and then went to a Sindhi school where he studied Persian, Arabic and English.
After that he went to the Anglo Oriental School Hyderabad in 1865. He passed the Matriculationexam in 1872.
He moved to Bombay for his higher education in 1873 where He studied Turkish under professor Heerat. He was appointed as a teacher of Persian in 1878. He had write the exam for magistrate and passed it from the Sindh province.

He had golden career in his era. He wrote more than 400 books.
