Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq

Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq was the chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, a coalition of disparate political parties in Jammu and Kashmir that wish independence for the state. He was assassinated in 1990.
After his assassination his son Mirwaiz Omar Farooq took over. Another leader Abdul Ghani Lone was was shot dead in 2000 on the same day.
