The miR-92 microRNA precursor family are small non-coding RNA genes that regulate gene expression by antisense binding. This family includes the related mir-92-1 and mir-92-2 sequences. Human miR-92 has two predicted hairpin precursor sequences: mir-92-1 on chromosome 13 and mir-92-2 on chromosome X [1]. miR-92 has also been cloned from mouse embryonic stem cells [2]. The mature sequence is excised from the 3' arm of the hairpin.
miR-92b has been characterised as a cancer associated microRNA [3]
