MIPCOM is a media content related event which is held in the town of Cannes once every year, normally in October. It is the same location as the world famous Cannes Film Festival.
It is essentially a content event for co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content. It provides the people involved in the TV, film, digital and audiovisual content, production and distribution industry a market conference and networking forum to discover future trends and trade content rights on a global level.

The next MIPCOM will take place from October 13th - 17th, 2008. Over 13,000 entertainment professionals attend annually from over 100 countries. MIPTV holds the only Emmy Awards outside the United States: - The International Interactive Emmy Awards at MIPTV on Tuesday April 8th 2008.
The MIPTV Content 360 media festival exhibits creative innovative productions for cross platform (TV, Film, Mobile, Internet) distribution.
Previous conference panelists and keynote speakers include CEO's from many of the major global media companies: - Leslie Moonves, CBS (US), Jana Bennett BBC (UK), Gerhard Zeiler RTL Group (Luxembourg), Harry Sloan MGM (US), Subhash Chandra ZEE Networks (India), Dr. Hyun-Oh Yoo SK Communications/ Cyworld (Korea), Paula Wagner - Tom Cruise's partner - at United Artists (US), Ronnie Screwvala UTV (India), Philip Rosedale Second Life (US), Ben Silverman NBC (US), Emilio Azcarraga Televisa (Mexico), Mike Volpi JOOST (US).

This event is very closely related to the MIPTV event, but retains its distinct focus. The MIPTV event takes place in the same venue in October each year.
Normally lasting 5 days, it provides a networking forum and showcase for Film and TV production companies. There are approximately 13,000 registered delegates on any given year, although it has recently been increasing by double digits annually in both visitors and revenue.
It is one of the largest events in the Cannes calendar, and it goes a long way to "taking over" the town, with many of the towns local businesses gearing specifically toward this and other events.
The MIPCOM organization works closely with the Town Council to ensure that the town can cope, and events teams and logistics companies from all over Europe manage to install and take down the entire structure of the tradeshow within 5 days. Not only the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is used as a conferencing venue - many of the famous hotels on the Croisette are taken over and used, such names as the Intercontinental Carlton Hotel, the Martinez Hotel and the Majestic are commonly associated with the MIPCOM event too.
