Mionloch, "small lake" in Gaelic, a small village near Galway, Ireland, gave its name to Menlough County, from which Menlo Park derives.
Home of the famous Emmetts Rowing Club which won the Blue Riband of Irish Senior Eights Rowing in 1929 and again in 1931. Although Rowing Club was disbanded some years later a Hurling Club bearing the same Menlo Emmetts name was formed in 1981. This club was to go on to win the County Junior B titles in 1983 and 2006.In March 2007 they went onto win the All Ireland Junior B title by defeating Tara Rocks of Wexford.
