I just don't think I can be bothered with Wikipedia anymore. It has stopped being fun. The lunatics are taking over the asylum. I think the spat with User:Netoholic was the last straw. At that time my wiki-stress was at boiling point and Netoholic's continued despicable behaviour made me incensed. His determination to have me de-sysoped (for blocking and reverting a known vandal) through the RFC and RFAr process just confirmed to me that this place has become too full of people who like the bureaucracy and red-tape that is now so much a part of editing here. His behaviour was all about him getting his own way and had nothing to do with what was right for Wikipedia. This was obvious to one and all, but due process had to proceed and I felt like I had been hung out to dry. By the end of that affair I felt drained and my editing has been reduced to a mere trickle. I said I wouldn't be forced out by trolls and vandals, but I guess I have been. So many good editors have stopped editing here recently and I go to join their legions. Farewell one and all.

If you just want to work on football stuff, then go to The Football Wiki. --202.47.51.30 05:53, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Take a wikivacation and relax. The best way to deal with the bureaucracy is to ignore it - in the case of Wikimedia, it's fairly harmless.--Eloquence*

[edit] Article Licensing

Whenever I need a WikiVacation, sometimes I go back to working on articles that absolutely no one would think to write about so they leave me alone. Anyway if you ever come back and have a moment to consider this, I've "started" the Free the Rambot Articles Project which aims to get users to release all of their contributions to the U.S. state, county, and city articles (if any) under the CC-by-sa 1.0 and 2.0 license (at minimum) or into the public domain if they prefer. A secondary, but equally important, goal is to get those users to release ALL of their edits for ALL articles. I've personally chosen to multi-license all of the rambot and Ram-Man contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License so that other projects, such as WikiTravel, can use our articles. I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all your contributions (or at minimum those on the geographic articles) so that we can keep most of the articles available under the multi-license. Many users use the DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual template (or even MultiLicensePD for public domain) on their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Template messages/User namespace. If you only prefer using the GFDL, I understand, but I thought I'd at least ask, just in case, since the number of your edits is in the top 100. If you do want to do it, simply just copy and paste one of the above two templates into your user page and it will allow us to track those users who have done it. For example:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain (which many people do or don't like to do, see Wikipedia:Multi-licensing), you could replace DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual with MultiLicensePD -- Ram-Man 00:10, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Argh

Sometimes I can't keep up with who's gone. Sorry not to have left a goodbye note sooner -- please don't take it as a sign that your contributions weren't valued. I'll miss seeing you around and hope you can return someday (and we'll see if I'm still around then!). Best wishes in all you do, and drop in on us now and then, if you will, as a favor to those of us who didn't push you over the edge. :-) Jwrosenzweig 09:22, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Template talk:Infobox Biography

I'm having some issues on John Vanbrugh. People keep removing the infobox! I think it's quite useful as it does take some hunting to find information about birth places, birth dates and death dates/places in many of the articles. Could you comment on the talk page? - Ta bu shi da yu 02:53, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Are you still here?

Maybe you've long gone, but I noticed you were one of the earliest editors of Celtic F.C.

What I'd like to ask, if you're interested, is if you have any info for an article on Sean Fallon, as I haven't been able to come up with much on the web or elsewhere? Camillustalk|contribs 23:03, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:CanadianHawkerHurricane1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CanadianHawkerHurricane1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:MermaidsAtBrighton.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MermaidsAtBrighton.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Angr 13:04, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Aside from your obsession with CE/BCE you've done quite a good job.

[edit] Clapham Junction in Battersea

You say that Clapham Junction is in Battersea do you mean to imply that it is not in Clapham? If it is outside the area it is named after, this is something it has in common with other railway stations in South London such as West Dulwich and Tulse Hill railway stations. [edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:TheCoupCoverLarge.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:TheCoupCoverLarge.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Image tagging for Image:MrsBeeton1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MrsBeeton1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:PeterBlakeCover1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:PeterBlakeCover1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:17, 1 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mattbr 21:17, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Conrad Schumann.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Conrad Schumann.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:34, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of The pill

The pill, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that The pill satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The pill (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of The pill during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ACBestAutograph Book 17:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Retirement

Well, I hope you are enjoying your retirement. Yeah, the bureaucracy on Wikipedia seems to grow every day. I used to love dealing with administration, but eventually I just stopped talking to anyone and worked on my own. If you ever do come back, you should try that. Working on your own, while you have limited to no human contact and you don't ever get credit for your work, is gratifying. You can do what you want and get stuff done.

Hope your retirement goes well, --Sharkface217 03:39, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Viz

Another editor has added the "prod" template to the article Viz, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Speedy deletion of Image:LewesBattle Small.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:LewesBattle Small.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
