[edit] John Surman

Can you get one of John Surman blowing? Badagnani (talk) 03:53, 16 April 2008 (UTC) - done

And Hamiet Bluiett. Badagnani (talk) 03:54, 16 April 2008 (UTC) - done

Wow!!! Badagnani (talk) 20:13, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Wadada Leo Smith. Badagnani (talk) 03:54, 16 April 2008 (UTC) - done

George Lewis (trombonist). Badagnani (talk) 04:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC) - done

Are you using some sort of WikiProject to keep track of which jazz musicians still need photos? I think at the rate you're going, it's probably at least 60% finished (just a guess). Badagnani (talk) 04:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

The smiling, non-blowing Surman was a free one but the blowing ones on Flickr are better, haha! Photos of Smith and Lewis are great; I have played with both of these guys. Badagnani (talk) 08:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

These might be hard:

[edit] Photographer Credit on Caption

Re: [Rupert Jee]/ [Image:Rupert Gee.jpg] I would suggest that if you cannot post a picture without stroking your own ego putting your name in the caption, that you need to remove photo. Photogs are credited on the image page, this should be sufficient? Bwave (talk) 05:21, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Please do not re-add your name to the photo caption. Despite your assertion, the CC licenses absolutely do not require the attribution be placed where the photographer requires it, simply that they are credited in the manner they request (i.e. the name or pseudonym they wish to use). Long standing consensus on Wikipedia has been to limit attribution to the image description pages except in cases of notable photographers. Shell babelfish 05:49, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Not my name Shell. The author's name, the one who asked it to be there. (Mind meal (talk) 06:45, 21 April 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Village Pump - Photo attribution

Thanks for letting me know that this discussion has come up. I've posted a note in support of your proposal. Cheers - Easchiff(talk) 23:18, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kate Westbrook - photograph on flickr

You emailed me via flickr regarding a photograph of Kate Westbrook http://www.flickr.com/photos/rhythmaning/301771099/ . I am very happy to have this picture used by Wikipedia, and I have changed the licence to Creative Commons.

BTW Mike Westbrook used pictures from the same set on the cover of the last Village Band CD.

[edit] Hi, Respect the Gerry Weil Picture...!

[edit] Sockpuppet?

I've replied to your accusation of sockpuppetry. BTW, why do you have a swastika at the top of your talk page? Papa Lima Whiskey (talk) 23:58, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Not a swastika but rather the endless knot. (Mind meal (talk) 23:15, 29 April 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Unblock

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "I am not the user identified as spamming. Why I have this trouble when logged in puzzles me."

Decline reason: "I'm not entirely sure what is going on, but there is not and never has been a block in your log. — Trusilver 16:25, 1 May 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

This user's request to have the autoblock on his/her IP address lifted has been DECLINED.

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Mmpubs". The reason given for Mmpubs's block is: " This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy. You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} on your user talk page or emailing the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. ".

  • Decline reason:

Our tools indicate that this autoblock has been lifted already. If you still cannot edit, please wait 24 hours and try again. — Sandstein (talk) 18:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Please be more careful in the future when uploading images from Flickr. Any CC license with NC in its title is only allowed for non-commercial use; this licensing is not compatible with Wikipedia which allows commercial reuse. Shell babelfish 23:26, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
These are images Flickr users have changed the licenses on. Not my problem. (Mind meal (talk) 01:07, 2 May 2008 (UTC))
You could consider uploading these to Commons where a verification system exists so that you don't run in to problems with licenses getting changed later. There's no need to be rude to friendly messages by the way; there are a lot of people who don't realize the difference or don't know that commercial reuse is allowed by Wikipedia. Shell babelfish 02:55, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
I apologize, I wasn't trying to suggest you were careless, just trying to make sure that you were aware of that particular wrinkle in licensing. If you're already uploading to Commons and getting verification, thanks for the work :) Shell babelfish 17:56, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shinto wedding picture

Hello. I was looking at the Shinto page recently, particularly at the wedding picture and noticed that it looks almost identical to one on the BBC site. The image page lists it for a particular photographer, with links to the Flickr, and notice of Creative Commons license, but these pictures seem identical and are copyrighted on the BBC page. This could all just be a misunderstanding though. Thanks for clearing this up. Sean_ODuibher (talk) 20:40, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

That makes perfect sense. I just wasn't able to find the credit on the BBC page. I wasn't trying to be some kind of rule nazi, but I figured you, of anybody, could straighten me out. Thanks. Sean_ODuibher (talk) 03:07, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Little context in Category:Eric Dolphy avant-garde jazz albums

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Eric Dolphy avant-garde jazz albums, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Eric Dolphy avant-garde jazz albums is very short providing little or no context to the reader. [edit] Ohio Cup #2

Mind Meal,
I'm not sure if you're aware or not, but the Reds are bringing back the Ohio Cup, with a new trophy, and MVP trophy going to the winner of the series. I'd like to turn the Ohio Cup page into a disambiguation, leading to Ohio Cup: First Incarnation or Ohio Cup: Preseason Tournament and Ohio Cup: Second Incarnation or Ohio Cup: Regular Season Tournament. Any thoughts?
