Why are minutes called 'minutes'

It probably come from minutiae - a Latin word meaning small details - LC

This article is too conducive to understand, please dumb it down a little so NORMAL people would get what it means.

Can full and detailed minutes, taken and submitted by the minute taker, be paraphrased by the chairman/secretary before the committee see them and this paraphrase be the only "minutes" the committee are permitted to see? Does a Chairman/Secretary have the authority to do this? Is there a protocol handbook anywhere to help inexperienced committees understand the rules of the game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.65.207 (talk) 16:19, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
