[edit] Epithets
I'm reverting "Erin "EZ" Tate - Drums & sucka DJ!!!" back to "Erin Tate - Drums" because I'm not sure if that was vandalism, but I can't find evidence of those epithets online —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Digfarenough (talk • contribs) .
[edit] Marked for Deletion?
This article was marked for deletion, and the reason that was given was "Seems to be an autobiography. No good sources. Does not assert importance." But there are many other bands that have Wikipedia entries of similar length and content that aren't marked for deletion. Also, it's not like they are a completely unknown band and decided to make an entry about themselves - they've played at Warped Tour and have opened for larger acts. And if someone heard of Minus the Bear, and wanted to learn more information about them, this page would be a good source of information. For this reason, I am removing the marked for deletion tag. - The fact that other articles of equal or lesser importance have evaded deletion is not a valid reason to save this one. Also, traditionally, the 'marked for deletion' tag is not removed without a vote. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oggleboppiter (talk • contribs) 09:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC).
- For one, there is no evidence that this is "autobiographical". I see no place in the text where it appears to have been written by a band member. Secondly, they have five commercial releases and two singles to their credit, all on major labels. Following WP:MUSIC, this article should stay. The criterion goes as such: "Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." The guideline requires that only one criterion be matched. Seegoon 13:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Seeing as how Minus the Bear meets several of the criteria for notability, the article should remain. To add to Seegoon's list: Minus the Bear has held a spot on Billboard's Top Independent Albums in 2005, gone on a national tour, and "Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable." - If it is strongly believed that Minus the Bear is notable enough to be kept on Wikipedia, then I would suggest adding a bit more information regarding its place on whatever charts theyve made it on. Adding sources, not official Minus the Bear sites. What makes it seem autobiographical to me, is the mention of inside jokes, without any source to how the person writing this knew that, as well as the generalization of it being "known for humorous song names." Who knows the band for its humorous song names? Unless someone else feels it should be deleted, I'll change the tag to needs sources/info. Oggleboppiter 04:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Although I agree that there should be more here, on the main page, this article should not be deleted! Also, there is alot of info about the band on the seperate release pages. It could be brought together with one of those pretty boxes that discogs usually go in on this site... bah! Days will chase 05:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Alex Rose
is also in a band called Model Photographer, which he has been a part of since before he was in minus the bear. I don't know how to cite sources, and I don't know if Myspace is an acceptable site to cite as a source, but here's their profile: http://www.myspace.com/modelphotographer
[edit] Scott West?
Ok, someone keeps adding a past member called "Scott West" to the previous members list. This member is not listed on any of the old album wiki pages (although I wouldn't be surprised if it suddenly did now!) and I've never heard anyone mention him. I don't see why they'd need three guitarists in the band. I think this is the hilarious joke of someone adding themselves as a member of a band. Is there any proof that anyone called Scott West was ever in MTB? Post it here if so, otherwise I'll keep removing this. Thanks. Olliemilne 17:02, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

What's the process behind the infobox data? I don't see how MTB is math rock when compared to really "mathy" bands like Dream Theater. Is there a source for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.91.83.180 (talk) 17:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
