Talk:Mini-bar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am unable to find out when and where the first mini-bar was installed in a hotel room and when the mini-bar first reached Europe.

I couldn't find any history when I first wrote the article, but I've now found that Minibar Systems was founded in the 1970s[1], implying that the concept goes back at least that far. And one site says that Siegas introduced the first true (refrigerated) mini-bar in the early 1960s.[2] It's likely that early mini-bars did not have refrigerators, so there's no telling how far back it might go. I can imagine hotel guests in the late 1930s finding little bottles of liquor in there rooms with outrageous prices attached, but before that it's pretty unlikely, since Prohibition lasted until 1933. --Tysto 15:00, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
