[edit] Bio in her own words is a copyvio

Recently, a large (almost 8kB) block of text was added which is a copyright violation of http://www.minettewalters.co.uk/about_minette/biography.htm. Accordingly, it has been summarily deleted.

The source page reads "© Minette Walters 2007. All Rights Reserved." In the absence of a release from the site's creator—and verified as having come from there—this text cannot be used in the article.

Please discuss the issue further here before attempting to re-add the text to the article. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 01:17, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

It should also be mentioned that even if a release from Minette Walters were obtained, the material would still be unsuitable and would certainly be deleted. This is an encyclopedia, and material written in the first person (other than brief direct quotations to support particular points) is not appropriate in such a work. In addition, WP:AUTO strongly discourages contributions authored by articles' subjects. If a more detailed biography of Ms. Walters is needed, it will have to be written in the words of the contributing editor(s), not in Ms. Walters's words. Deor 22:50, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
