Minnie Goodsoup

Minerva Stronie Goodsoup, called Minnie for short, is a fictional character, who appears in LucasArts' The Curse of Monkey Island, on Blood Island. She is one of the Goodsoup Family, the family who apparently owned a Great Soup Empire that once stretched across the Caribbean.

[edit] Early Life and Romance

There is little known of Minnie's life before the game; however it is known that she lived as Griswold Goodsoup's Aunt on Blood Island. Her age and his age are unknown; though it is common speculation that Minnie is younger than Griswold. She apparently was one of the rich young debutantes on Blood Island during its 'golden-age' when the Goodsoup Plantation Resort and Casino was in full business before the game begins on Blood Island.

Minnie apparently attracted many suitors yet she apparently was bored to tears; she wanted a dangerous pirate as her lover. She found one in the evil Captain LeChuck when he was washed on the beaches of Blood Island after his ship had been destroyed. Minnie's account contradicts LeChucks though as she said 'sailed his ship into the bay' yet it is accurately viewed from the accounts of Estaban in the Secret of Monkey Island that LeChuck's ship was indeed destroyed.

LeChuck charmed Minnie and they were soon engaged - however this was for the purpose of selling the Goodsoup Family Diamond on the engagement ring. On their engagement night, LeChuck stole the diamond and it was never seen again. He sold it to the smugglers of Skull Island for a new ship.

[edit] Death and The Curse of Monkey Island

Minnie died of a broken heart, it is presumed a week later. However she could not be put to rest in her tomb and so haunted the Goodsoup Family Crypt for many years, buried with the engagement band that was devoid of its diamond. The only other man she loved other than LeChuck was the suitor Charles De Goulash, who was killed in the Hotel late one night. He was on his fold-down bed, when it was presumed the bed closed up and trapped him (explaining the muffled yells Griswold mentions). His body remained in the room after Griswold had it sealed.

Guybrush Threepwood entered the tomb hoping to find the engagement band and also found Minnie, in conversation it seemed that Minnie was trying to seduce Guybrush but to no avail. In a twist of fortune, the undead corpse of Charles DeGoulash was thrown into the Crypt and confronted Minnie and asked her to marry him. She accepted, and in the dark of the tomb they kissed.

United finally in love, Minnie disappeared with Goulash and left the engagement band behind. She was finally at rest.
