[edit] Notes
Highway 86 serves as a 23 mile north-south arterial route between Windom, Lakefield, and the Iowa state line.
All of Highway 86 is in Jackson County.
Kilen Woods State Park, on the banks of the Des Moines River, is located east of Highway 86 on County Highway 24.
[edit] History
Highway 86 was authorized in 1933.
The route was still gravel south of U.S. Highway 16 (now Interstate Highway 90) in 1942. Highway 86 was completely paved by 1953.
