The Ministry of National Education (Spanish: Ministerio de Educación Nacional) is the Colombian ministry in charge of Education in Colombia. It was created on August 25, 1886. The current minister is Cecilia María Vélez White.
The famed assassinated leader Jorge Eliécer Gaitán was Minister of Education from 1940-1942 under the administration of the Liberal Party's Eduardo Santos (1938-1942), where he promoted an extensive literacy campaign as well as cultural activities. {stub}
