Ministry of Health and Prevention (Denmark)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Danish Ministry of Health and Prevention was founded after the 2007 Folketing elections, being split off from the then-combined Ministry of the Interior and Health.

Responsibilities include things like planning, coordination and research streamlining of the Danish Health service (sundhedsvæsenet), Danish Hospital service (sygehusvæsenet), the Danish Public Social Security (den offentlige sygesikring) as well as the approval of pharmaceuticals and the pharmacy sector. Prevention and health promotion are also part of the Ministry’s remit, and both the National Board of Health (Danish: Sundhedsstyrelsen) and Statens Serum Institut.

The current minister of the Ministry of Health and Prevention is Jakob Axel Nielsen.
