Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (Ontario)

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is the Government of Ontario ministry responsible for administering the health care system and providing services through such programs as:
- health insurance - OHIP
- drug benefits - Trillium Drug Program
- assistive devices
- care for the mentally ill
- long-term care
- home care
- community and public health
- health promotion
- disease prevention.
It also regulates hospitals and nursing homes, operates psychiatric hospitals and medical laboratories, and co-ordinates emergency health services in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The Ministry consists of:
- Minister of Health and Long-Term Care: Honourable George Smitherman
- Deputy Minister: Ron Sapsford
- Associate Deputy Minister: Marg Rappolt
- Associate Deputy Minister and Executive Lead, Health Results Team: Hugh MacLeod
- Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Human Resources: Dr. Joshua Tepper
- Chief Medical Officer of Health and Assistant Deputy Minister: No one currently. Previously Dr. Sheela Basrur held this role.

MOH once operated ambulance services outside of major cities in Ontario, but the services was off-loaded to municipalities in 1998-2000 period.
