Minister for Education (Australia)

The Australian Minister for Education has responsibilities which include the following areas:[1]
- Education policy and programs including schools, vocational, higher education and Indigenous education, but excluding migrant adult education
- Education and training transitions policy and programs
- Science awareness programs in schools
- Training, including apprenticeships and training services
- Policy, co-ordination and support for education exports and services
- Income support policies and programs for students and apprentices
The current Minister for Education is the Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who is also Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and Minister for Social Inclusion. She administers her portfolios through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
