Minim
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A minim is:
- Minim in music - a note length, another name for a half note
- Minim (unit) - an amount of fluid
- Minim (religious order) - a member of a religious order founded by St. Francis of Paula
- Minim (palaeography) - a short vertical stroke used in handwriting
All of these derive from Latin minimus, 'very small', and are stressed on the first syllable. Additionally, with the stress on the second syllable:
- Minim (a Hebrew plural form) - are, in Talmudic terminology, outsiders within the Jewish community.
