Minecart

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The minecart or mine cart is a transportation tool for moving ore and materials in the process of mining, however they are no longer used in modern operations. Shaped like a large, rectangular bucket, minecarts are set upon metal tracks so they can be pushed or pulled by things (men, animals, or engines) much lighter than their contents. Minecarts range in size and usage, however they are often viewed as being made completely of metal for hauling ore. Throughout the world their are different titles for such carts, an instance of this would be in South Africa, where it is called a "cocopan."[1]

Minecarts have been depicted in many situations as a type of thrillride; for instance Indiana Jones used it for an escape scene.
