"Min soldat" (en. "My Soldier") is a Swedish song by Nils Perne (Jokern).
The song was written for and first performed by Naemi Briese in the Revue Det kommer en vår at the theatre Folkan in Stockholm.
Hans skor är för stora och hans mössa för trång
hans byxor för smala och hans rock är för lång
men det gör detsamma för han är min soldat
någonstans i Sverige
Translated to English:
His shoes are too large and his cap too tight
his pants too small and his coat is too long
but it makes no difference for he is my soldier
somewhere in Sweden

The song reached wider recognition through the recording by Ulla Billquist for the record company Sonora on May 8, 1940, and was considered one of the most popular songs during World War II. The recording was Billquist's first for Sonora after she was bought from Sonora's competitor Columbia[1].
The song was arranged by and the orchestra was led by Sven Arefeldt.
Several recordings was made with other singers for other record companies.

The song was rivived again in 1973 when the author Jan Olof Olsson ("Jolo") used a line form the song as title for his TV-series Någonstans i Sverige about World War II. Billquist's recording was used as theme song.

- "Min soldat" was recorded by Danish singer Birthe Kjær and Helmer Olesens orkester on the record Det var en yndig tid. The Danish lyrics was written by Knud Feiffer[2].
- "Min soldat" was recorded by The Andrews Sisters and released in the USA as "The shrine of Saint Cecilia".
- The song was performed in the film Jazzgossen (1958) by Maj-Britt Nilsson.
