Image:Minuteman I Disk Memory D-17 fixed heads d.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Head-on view of the heads inside a hard-disk which served as ROM/RAM for the D-17 computer.

Note that some tracks have only one head at a particular radius while other tracks have multiple heads. Multiple heads allowed for faster reads/writes to data in the "rapid access loops" mentioned in the D-17B Specifications section.
