[edit] Summary

The Miniature Thermal Infrared Spectrometer (Mini-TES) is designed to measure the infrared spectrum of martian surface materials and characterize the martian atmospheric temperature profile. The infrared spectrum can be used to determine composition and other properties of minerals on the martian surface. The primary scientific objective of Mini-TES is to obtain mineralogical information on martian rocks and soils.
