Talk:Million Programme

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Million Program was actually dwellings consisting one million rooms. One million dwellings had been unrealistic considering the population of Sweden at the time: there would simply not have been any market!

Actually, the plan was to build 1,000,000 dwellings, and the end result was a netto increase of about 650,000 due to many old housings were demolished as part of the development plans. These 1,000,000 are about 25% of the total number of available housings and apartments in Sweden, which sounds rather reasonable given a population of 9,000,000 (then about 8,000,000) --Strangnet 11:55, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Still, four million dwellings on a population of eight million sounds unrealistic to me.
