bornes kilometriques...show the number of the route as well as the distance to the next town. Their red or yellow color also shows whether the route is a national highway or a local road. -- from CCG Workshop [9]

There is a film of this name (!) [10] [11]

[edit] Timeline

  • 1954 -- designed by Edmond Dujardin
  • 1962 -- first Parker Bros version
  • 1964 -- some French version?
  • 1971 ? -- three references
  • 1975 ?
  • 1982 -- last Parker Bros version
  • 1999 -- Winning Moves version
  • 1999 -- "Collector's Edition" (Winning Moves) based on 1962

There may be a Japanese version and a Spanish version as well.

1971 seems to be similar to 1962.  ??

There seem to be 6 distinct versions (not counting language or card back variations):

  • the orignal design of Du Jardin; this seems to be the same as the original 1962 PB release
    • (except, of course, that the original version didn't have English translations)
  • a moderne version released sometime in the 1970s
  • a pseudo-photo-realistic version released by Winning Moves
  • a version released by Schmidt-Spill under the name 1000 km etc.
  • "40th Anniversary Edition"
  • "Ruta", which seems to be a Mexican knock-off

  • [12] another computer version of the game; this page is in French

Parker Brothers was acquired by Hasbro in 1991.

this is certainly the 1962 bilingual design but the image is terrible; sorry -- only useful for identification purposes
