Talk:Milk of Magnesia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why is there a "Milk of Magnesia" and a seperate "Milk of magnesia" entry?

[edit] Decision to merge from Milk of magnesia to Milk of Magnesia

Merged material from Milk of magnesia into the section History, Biological metabolism, Pharmaceutical uses, and Precautions. The decision has been made after a search in Google [[1]], give many hits for Milk of Magnesia instead Milk of magnesia, and Phillip's Milk of Magnesia is a brand and it has the M on uppercase.HappyApple 05:59, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Question of how it works

I believe that Milk of Magnesia doesn't work as suggested in the article. The hydroxide ions don't hydrate the feces, but rather, the Magnesium enhances intestinal mobility. Hoever, I'm nore sure; does anyone have any proof one way or the other? --Bilz0r 01:31, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Trip to the Medical Library successful, two references found, content changed and references added.--Bilz0r 09:38, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image

As of now, there is no image at all for this article. I can put take a picture of some magnesium hydroxide powder and a bit in suspension, but I'm not sure if that acceptably fits with the title of the article. I'd rather put it under the magnesium hydroxide article, but that either needs to be expanded or combined with this article. Dormroomchemist 04:15, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Use as deodorant

There seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence that Magnesium Hydroxide is effective as a deodorant. I think it should be included in this entry, but I'm not sure how best to do so. I found a patent (http://www.google.com/patents?id=F8UfAAAAEBAJ&dq=5512274) but no reviewed research on the subject. Tthackrey (talk) 16:03, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
