Talk:Military history of Ethiopia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I don't know if we should state that the military history of Ethiopia started in 950 BC. I understand the point that the original contributor wanted to make: Ethiopia has a long history, & that one could argue this history stretches back at least to that date. However, if we define "history" as the study of recorded events, the earliest recorded wars Ethiopia is known to have taken part in are (1) campaigns recorded in the monumental inscriptions of the Axumite kings, & (2) its repeated invasions of the southern partof the Arabian penninsula during the first centuries of this era. This does not mean that there was no military activity before this date; just that we cannot say anything useful about it at this time. -- llywrch 20:43, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- 950 BC w/o a single reference is considered original research. I agree w/ you. -- FayssalF - Wiki me upĀ® 23:11, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
