[edit] Language of names

I have anglicized the names of 5 Groupe-brigade mechanisé du Canada and 34 Groupe-brigade du Canada. I have done this because these formations have names in both English and French on DND and CF websites, and since this is English Wikipedia, I used the English one. I did not (and will not) do this for fmns and units that only have names in one offcial language, e.g. the Royal Vingt-douzième Régiment or 12e Régiment blindée du Canada. Conversely, this also means that fmns like 1 CMBG and 37 CBG should be renderedn in French on French Wikipedia. In the case of 5 CMBG, I was surprised; I initially inserted the French 5 GBMC here, as all (DND) references I have ever seen referred that formation as such; I do not know when the CF decided to refer to formations bilingually. --SigPig 06:02, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Order

I am proposing that all units, regiments, ships, etc be alphabetized rather than in order of precedence or hull number. For a list such as this I believe ease of finding a unit is important; order of precedence is important in a article say on order of precedence, or Authorized marches of the Canadian Forces (because they are generally played in order of precedence). Or we can alphabetize everything and create a "order of precedence" article for the CF in accordance with the last relevant CFAO. --SigPig

[edit] Order of precedance

Holy moly Sigpig! I never saw this before...great work! I added the RCA before the armour corp. (Right of the line and all that jazz) also NRS Aldergrove for bases. Good work! --Motorfix 04:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
