[edit] Miles?
Her first name is Miles? CRAP! I must've missed an episode. When did they say thay say that?? Baby16 00:02, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
I think that's vandalism, or it's a nickname. Also, stop vandalising all the other freakin' articles, for all you IP adresses! My eyes might be closed, but my brain is on red alert! Bibliomaniac15 22:27, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Move Section Miley Cyrus
There is already a Page on Miley Cyrus. Should we just delete the information, because it is supposed to be informed on the fictional character, not the actor. Aznime 20:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Aznime
[edit] Article Name
Personally, I don't like the article name. The "/" makes it seems...unproffessional. Perhaps an article on Miley Stewart and another article on Hannah Montana, the character. DoomsDay349 22:24, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Also, the "/" indicated a subpage, which is not good. DoomsDay349 22:43, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- The "/" has to go. But should the ultimate article title be "Hannah Montana (character)" or "Miley Stewart"?Rhindle The Red 05:07, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Requested Move
Naming the article "Miley Stewart" would eliminate the need for disambiguation and it is the more accurate name for the character. Miley is also the name by which Disney refers to the character,[1] so no reason to go against Disney. --Bobblehead 23:47, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree ^^ that is her "real" name in the tv series and there's too many articles that start with 'hannah montana...' - Natasha1994 14:59, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Birthdate
Miley Stewart's birthdate is May 12, 1992— the air date of the episode "It's a Mannequin's World" where it's Miley's birthday was May 12, 2006. Stephe1987 09:35, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
It really isn't known when Miley STEWART's birthday is. And just because the episode "It's a Mannequin's World" was aired on May 12th it does NOT mean that her birthday is that date. This episode has been showed many times, so there is no way to know when Miley Stewart's birthday is. So it is unknown. Madisonxsophie 03:47, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Most of the time the original air date is how the birthdates of TV characters are found. Lol. Look at Full House's Michelle Tanner. The original air date of the episode was May 12, 2006. :) Stephe1987 02:58, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- Say what? WAVY 10 02:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- Air dates do not equal birthdates. Many episodes are aired out of order and aren't aired the same day in every country. If we follow the birthdate=air date logic, then a character could have 7 different birthdays (Talk about a lot of presents). --Malevious Userpage •Talk Page• Contributions 02:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- Say what? WAVY 10 02:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Several different days were shown in that episode, her birthday and the days running up to it. If her birthdate is the airdate then surely the other days are too. And that doesn't make any sense!!! Mouseinthehouse 16:57, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
The dates of birth in the lead and in the infobox contradict each other. This needs to be fixed immediately by someone who is knowledgeable about the topic. -- drumguy8800 C T 21:11, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- It was once said that Miley Cyrus and the character Miley Stewart were "born" 6 months apart; however that information was not verifiable. I agree that it needs to be fixed ASAP but I don't want to make an incorrect change. I will look for a verifiable source, and if I find one, I will post it here and then make the change to the article. Rockerbaby 22:06, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Birthdate cannot be consistently determined. The date an episode airs does not match the date of the episode. First episode of season 2 had date being start of school, probably this fall. Makes Miley 14 by rules of grade 9 entry. She would have to turn 15 after start of grade 9 so can't be 15 now. --NrDg 22:33, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Season 1 would determine that her birthday is 12 May 1992, as I said before. But in season 2, she said she was 14, even in episodes that aired in June, so this is not the case. Also, I'd like to point out that the "rules of grade 9 entry" are nonexistant and ridiculous. In California, where I'm from, the cutoff date is December 1st, but I also knew someone in my grade who was a year and a week older than I was and I was born in August!!! Stephe1987 04:06, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- There is no definite age for a 9th grader. Age does not determine your grade though it is used as a rule of thumb, I know 13year olds who started 9th grade. --Malevious Userpage •Talk Page• Contributions 04:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Just to defend myself on this. Rules for Kindergarten entry are pretty strongly enforced for a lot of states. Cutoff date for Tennessee is Sept 30 so if you turn 5 in Sept you go to kindergarten. On the other hand parents do have some discretion if they can prove their kid is too immature so it is possible to wait a year but this is rare. Also after school starts some kids can be advanced or held back because of academic achievement, but this is also rare. So, although it is not proof, the vast majority of people who started school in Tennessee will be 14 or very close to 14 at the start of grade 9. This all is moot now anyways as it is stated explicitly on the show that Miley was 14 at grade 9 entry. --NrDg 15:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 4-story house
In what episode was the house mentioned to have 4 storeys? - Disney768User 09:47, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have no clue. I don't watch HM very often, but from what I saw their house was two stories. If she lived in a 4-story house that would mean she lived in a mansion or something (unless you count a basement or attic as a "story"). And that would make no sense because she's supposed to be living a normal life, and I'm sure her school friends probably knew where she lived. People would get suspicious and wonder why three people (Miley, dad, brother) needed a 4-story house to live in. Stephe1987 05:55, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
She doesn't.. I mean, sure, who wouldn't want a four-story-house? But, then again, she's Hannah Montana, and if she did, people would look for Hannah's house.. and if Hannah's is the biggest(which I think it is, but not four story) people would find Miley's(well whoever was there who knew Miley)house. Plus, I mean, who could afford one? I mean most people(normal, not rich people) own 1 or 2 story, or rent them. It's VERY rare that someone owns(not rents)a mansion, even though there is lots of rich neighborhoods, but houses with normal people(not rich) people outrun them. Megan :) 06:00, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
I thought about it. Miley's house does have atleast 3 bathrooms. (Robby's, Miley's, and Jackson's) So, there house must be atleast 2 story..
Megan :) 18:17, 7 August 2007 (UTC) 02:18, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
The house was never mentioned to be 4 stories. The first episode was leaked out onto the internet weeks before the actual pilot (before it was retooled) making their house look more like a 4-story mansion than how it really is, if that's what you were referring to. ;-) ZSoraz 04:35, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

- Well, It kind of does. Only about 6 or 7(not counting her family in Malibu) people know. Lilly's mom, Oliver's mom(She drove Hannah and Oliver to the Hannah Halloween party),Aunt Dolly, Leslie Ryan(Jake),Luanne, Bobby Ray Stewart, so on.
I'm not even sure any other family in Tennessee know. Megan :) 05:46, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Aunt Dolly was her godmother. Her last name was never mentioned on the show. --NrDg 22:35, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
should i add all those relatives mentioned on the show? like uncle earl and aunt pearl!
No,you shouldn't because we don't have a lot of information on them, unless the are in the show, not just mentioned.
I think Dolly is an important family friend, but she's not a family member; she is Miley's godmother, not the grandmother. :) Stephe1987 04:07, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
This is on the edge. A lot of people consider godparents part of the family. For this article leaving her in this section seems appropriate to me. --NrDg 15:48, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- For starters, please sign your comments! Thanks.
- Secondly, Aunt Dolly is both a important family friend, and a godmother, so if Robby died(in the show, obviously),
I suppose she'd be the legal guardian, if anything happened to Miley and Jackson, she'd get custody(she wouldn't if Mrs.Stewart lived).

[edit] Middle name
It has been established that Miley's middle name is pronounced the same as Robbie Ray's. No spelling has been given in the show although "Rae" seems reasonable as a feminine looking homonym. So I have no problem going with that spelling. However there seems to be a bit of an edit war about where to use this name in the article. I suggest that 1 mention in the article with a cite is sufficient. Replace all mentions of Miley Stewart with Miley Rae Stewart seems wrong as that is not how she is commonly known. --NrDg 16:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
I made the change to just reference her middle name once with a cite to the episode where it was defined. If there is an objection to this, please comment in this discussion. --NrDg 23:06, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
WP:NAMES gives the answer. Full name required in opening paragraph and only in opening paragraph. Most common name is in title and other uses. --NrDg 02:02, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
The episode gave a pronunciation of her middle name to sound the same as her fathers middle name. There is nothing in print that shows how to spell the name. The choices are Ray and Rae. I have found Rae used as a woman's first name a number of times with a quick web search so I think that is the more likely spelling. Ray seems to be short for Raymond. I suggest we stick with "Rae" until we get better information. --NrDg 02:35, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, I have closed captioning on my TV and in the episode "I want you to want me.. to go to Florida", Robby Ray yells Miley Ray!, so which is why I reverted it to "Ray"Megan :) 05:54, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Closed caption is evidence so make a reference to it in the article and make the change. I'm not sure that counts as a verifiable reference. --NrDg 12:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- I thought about it some more and made change including the closed caption reference. Thanks. --NrDg 12:50, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
When is this episode does he say her name? I watched it and don't recall it ever being stated. And closed captioning does not count for a reliable source as it in inacurate. I have seen the closed caption for shows alternate between name spellings in a single name, as well as the closed captioning for Charmed often has the wrong lyrics for the theme song. We're gonna need a more reliable source than closed captioning, and if one can't be found we'll need to remove it per WP:V. --Malevious Userpage •Talk Page• Contributions 15:38, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- It is a verifiable fact that her name is pronounced the same as Robby Ray Stewart's middle name. Robby Ray said it when he was yelling at Miley at the end of the argument. What is missing is a verifiable spelling of that name. The closed captioning is the only indication we have of spelling. I tend to give the close captioning of scripted shows more credence than on the fly closed captioning as the script is available to the captioner. I seen no reason to remove the middle name because of an ambiguity on spelling. We need to leave the middle name in as it has been established with a primary source. --NrDg 15:50, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- But we have no source for the spelling. Without a source for the spelling, we can't really add it, unless you make a note that it could be spelled either way. As I said before, closed captioning is unreliable, the closed captioning for The Suite Life of Zack and Cody alternates between Zach and Zack, the closed captioning for Charmed gets the theme lyrics wrong, often, and I've seen shows where the closed captioning differs completely from what they actually say. --Malevious Userpage •Talk Page• Contributions 15:54, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- And don't forget how sometimes closed captioning can display complete jibberish. WAVY 10 19:39, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

- I changed the note in the reference to show the possible alternative spelling. Since we made no conclusion and just stated the facts as known, this should be an appropriate way to leave that fact in. --NrDg 16:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

But, sometimes my closed captioning is wrong. Once in a Hannah Episode, she goes to Singing with the Stars, and Lily says 'I may have used a little too much green. Miley says*in closed captioning*'Yeah Thanks.'
Though, it sounded like 'Ya Think' But I think it's correct. I'm sure. Because not many people have the nickname or middle name of "Rae" that's Raven's nickname on That's so Raven, so I'm sure they wouldn't copy her nickname spelling.. Megan :) 21:25, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I took this character off the list. Has shown up a couple of times in the article in the past, and was a made up Mom's name and Miley middle name for a while. Someone is just adding fake information to the article. --NrDg 16:44, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Is it just me, or did the writers seem to portray Miley as more of an airhead in Season 2 (as opposed to Season 1)? If so, that would seem to be rather unusual for the main character of a Disney Channel series to be portrayed as an "average" student. WAVY 10 18:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

- There's been an ugly debate concerning this, more specifically because of edit wars between editors who want lists (or even no mention whatsoever) like the user who has been part of the most contention over this debate TTN and those who want separate characters. I slightly lean toward separate character/episode articles, but this has gotten so ugly I could care less one way or the other. You can comment at the link in question. WAVY 10 Fan (talk) 22:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Best not to do any changes in format right now because of the on-going debate. I just wish we had some hard rules everyone was willing to follow. We have the hard rules now, which does say merge character pages into list of characters page if characters not WP:N notable, but there is no real consensus to follow those rules and people get really upset when the rules are enforced. I try to stay out of it. I don't care that much either way right now and it is a buzz saw to get involved. --NrDg 22:31, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
