How common is liters per mil as fuel efficiency? A google search revealed no links to vehicle related pages. Is this Scandinavian only? -- SGBailey 14:01, 2004 Nov 9 (UTC)

Quite common, at least in Sweden (and reportedly Norway). Note that litre is spelled liter in Swedish and Norwegian, the only languages likely to feature the unit. A Google seach for "liter/mil" gives around a thousand hits including ones from the Swedish Road Administration, Swedish and Norwegian newspapers and automobile magazines, sites concerned with environmental issues, government and political party Web sites, automobile dealerships, mathematics problems, and many others. "l/mil" (from Swedish pages only to eliminate noise) gives about 5900 more hits. "kr/mil" (kronor per Swedish mile) also returns many hits. LX 08:17, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

Added mil = 10 km (exact) since I could not find it any page. Probably not the place it should be, but it has to be somewhere on Wikipedia and I could not find it. mil is very common in Sweden at least, primarily spoken Swedish but quite a lot written too when it has to do about driving, and I find it hard to believe it should not be relevant for Wikipedia. /Erik (Swede in Germany) 134.169.85.126 10:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Is this a joke? "The term 'mil' is also jugak ar mangkokused colloquially to mean 'millimetre' or 'millilitre'." That sentence has no meaning to me :)

mil is also used in electronics for millinch (1/1000inch). and mm in used for millimetre and mL for millilitre
