• 1945 - World War II: 6 Division captured Wewak, New Guinea in a combined amphibious and land assault. Its capture marked the beginning of the end of the Aitape Wewak campaign.
• 1969 - Vietnam War: Rayene Stewart Simpson is awarded a VC for actions in the Kon Tum Province, Vietnam.
