Torres is a graduate of The Berklee College of Music, according to Allmusic Guide[2]

Torres was one of the first Puerto Ricans to introduce social and political content in his lyrics. By doing so, he attracted many young people to his group's music. The political aspect of his songs was especially important in a time where cultural nationalism grew tremedously, with the help of a contentious U.S. military presence. Indeed, young Puerto Ricans were becoming more involved in the national opposition to the American presence in Vieques, and also started to cry out against the imprisonment of Puerto Rican prisoners in U.S. federal penitentiaries[3]

Masa con Masa Rave Review The Caribbean keeps getting smaller and smaller, with musicians, influences, and sounds jumping from island to island. Perhaps nowhere is the phenomenon more pronounced than in the eclectic music of Puerto Rico's Millo Torres y el Tercer Planeta. The group fuses Latin, reggae, disco, and ska into one explosive sound. The reggae is more staccato, the ska is more tempered, the disco is just right, and Torres' butter-smooth vocals surge with true emotion.
