Millbrook is a village on the Rame Peninsula in south-east Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village is built around what was once a tidal creek, which is now dammed as a flood prevention measure and has become a well known birdwatching site.

[edit] Flower Boat Ritual

During the first Bank Holiday in May (May Day Bank Holiday), the Flower Boat ritual takes place[1]. During mid-morning, a procession of dancers and singers parade through the narrow ways of Millbrook, as well as the neighbouring villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, stopping at chosen houses and inns on the way. They carry with them a boat decorated with all the available spring flowers. In the evening, the boat is launched on the water, with a firework accompaniment. The ritual has been carried out in Millbrook since the fourteenth century, and is thought to be pagan in origin.
