Military sexual trauma

Military sexual trauma is a term that describes sexual assault and rape experienced by military personnel. It is often accompanied by posttraumatic stress disorder.[1] A great deal of attention is being paid to sexual assault in the U.S. military because of the role of American women in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.[2]
The Department of Veterans Affairs of the U.S. military has a program to assist victims of military sexual trauma.[3]
The Military Rape Crisis Center is the nation leading organization to assist veterans and active duty with military sexual trauma issues. They are also working with the senate to change the military policies on reporting Military Sexual Trauma. Started by a female in the Coast Guard while still on Active Duty in 2006.
