Military College Jhelum or MCJ, is a Military high school, located at Sara-i-Alamgir (District Gujrat) near Jhelum, Pakistan. Though it is phyically located in district Gujrat, but due to its very close proximity, it is associated with City of Jhelum. It's considered as an important and vital producer of the army work force. This institution constantly feeds the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, also known as PMA. It was called as"Den of Lions" by Hafeez Jalandhri, Creator of National Anthem of Pakistan

Military college was founded on March 3, 1922 by British King George, the Emperor of India and Prince of Wales. It was originally named King George Royal Indian Military School. King George of Britain built five of such cadet school through out India to benefit the sons of Royal Indian Army. Military College Jhelum and Chail Military School in India are sister institutes.
Regular classes began on 15 September 1925. At that time, it was organized as a residential school for the sons of Muslim soldiers with the objective of producing educated rank and file for the British-Indian Army units. In 1943, the school underwent structural reforms. The college reemerged as an institution of choice for potential officers of the army. With the creation of Pakistan, the college took further strides both in scope and objectives

Geographically, Military College Jhelum is located in district of Gujrat in the town of Sarai Alamgir. But due to its proximity to city of Jhelum and due to the fact original jhelum was actually on Sarai Alamgir side plus the historical reason of inclusion of sarai alamgir in district Jhelum before 1998, it is widely known as Military College Jhelum (MCJ). The students who are called cadets, are not only academically superior but well disciplined and are physically fit and meet all the requirement any regular army in the world. Cadets take part in sports such as field hockey, Cricket, Foot ball (soccer), Basket ball,Volleyball, Squash, Tennis and horse back riding. Personal fitness also include judo, karate, gymnastics, jogging and running. Physical training (PT), an original form of aerobics, in morning and sports in evening are conducted on compulsory daily basis. Students are also taught compulsory drill and shooting. Discipline and character is emphasized into a cadet's life. Students are prepared with a view to be the future military leaders of the country.

The college has produced 5 four star generals of Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy, namely former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mohammad Iqbal Khan (Late), former Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zulfiqar Ali Khan (late), former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Abdul Aziz Mirza, former Vice Chief of Army Staff General Mohammad Yousaf, and the current Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
The college awards medals to its distinguished students. In total there are two medals of honour, Director General Army Education Corps' gold medal for top student in the intermediate exam and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee gold medal for the best all-round performance. Cadet Sohail Farooq of 1982 entry has been the lone recipient of both highly coveted medals: Director General Army Education Corps' gold medal and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee gold medal for the best all-round performance.
On passing out of 116 PMA long course, PMA ASUO Cadet Ahmed, won the sword of honour and Cadet Hassan Aziz won the President's gold medal. The next ASUO is Cadet Ehsan Zeb. The cadet sent to Sandhurst (England) is Cadet Jehenzeb. All of these are Alamgirians. In total, College has got more than 30 Swords of Honours, and many gallantry medals including one Nishan-e-Haider. Alamgirians have overwhelmed the civil sector as well. Some of the notable names are former chairman of Sui Northern Gas Raja Abdul Wahid, Senator Malik Hayat, and Federal Minister Major (R) Sadiq.
