Mililani High School is the only public high school located in the town of Mililani, Oʻahu. Serving an enrollment of nearly 2,500 students in grades 9-12, Mililani High School is considered one of the largest public schools in Hawaiʻi. In 2005, the high school held the distinction of holding the largest graduating class in the state.

Mililani High School's athletics department, led by Athletic Director Glenn Nitta, competes in the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) in sports. The school has also produced professional athletes such as former NFL star Ma'a Tanuvasa.

[edit] Focus on Fine Arts

MHS has an outstanding Music program featuring a marching band that has performed in the Rose Bowl and London New Year's Day parades and a Symphony Orchestra that has performed at the Sydney Opera House. In 2006, the Music Program traveled to London and New York. In March 2008, the MHS Music Program traveled to Boston and Orlando and performed in a parade down Main Street U.S.A.

Mililani High School was one of the first public high schools in Hawaiʻi to introduce podcasting into its curriculum. It allows instructors to post lectures, allows administratiors to disseminate information, and gives students a global stage on which they can display works in the form of video/audio downloads. The MHS QwikNews podcast uses iTunes.

[edit] Rigor in the Curriculum

Mililani High School is actively engaged in developing excellence in Advanced Placement and Pre-AP programs. All of the MHS AP offerings have successfully satisfied the College Board AP audit process. The first pre-ap course offering was in the Social Studies Dept. for the 2007-08 school year with more to follow. Four MHS teachers have received invitations to be readers for the 2008 College Board AP exams. One of these teachers was invited to be a Table Leader at the 2008 APWH reading.
