[edit] Name
The Irish Baile na nGallóglach literally means 'town of the Gallowglasses' The Gallowglasses were Scottish mercenary soldiers who came to Milford to help the native Irish against the English invaders. A battle between the Irish, helped by the Gallowglasses, and the English took place at the top of the hill in the town and this is where the name comes from.
